House & Other Sports

I am attaching a photograph of of Drake House - 1949-50.  It has not scanned particularly well.  I am the weedy one in a grey suit on the front row!  To the left of thr masters (Jack Adams) is Denis Grimsley.  To their right is John Pickering.
I
was at the Grammar School from 1949 - 1957.  I live near Glastonbury in Somerset to where I moved in 1982, and am now living in retirement.

London 1948 Olympic Games, Wembley
Top: Jim Mayger
Left to Right: Bill Mayger, Frank Mager, Don Payne.
Squatting: Mick Wayte ( School Record Holder for 100/220 yards).

Mick Wayte wrote to me from Edinburgh University in 1948, where he was studying for an M.A., asking if any parents could put him up for the duration of the Games. He stayed with us and very kindly brought a set of tickets for me, so we both saw the athletics competitions.

The Maygers, who were all swimmers, also came to London to watch the swimming events, and I spent a session at the Empire Pool, Wembly, with the Mayger family watching that event.
