1957- I was
looking through the BGS website the other day and at some of the photos that
have appeared from around my time at the school, when I noticed the one of
the cross-country team from 1957. The date for that shot is more likely
1954/55 as I remember those in the photo as senior school, and John
Pickering obtained his degree in 1957 and several others in the photo the
following year (ref Radford). Numbers 5,6 and 7 seated in the photo are
D.Thornton, A.Thomas and A.Smith respectively. Unfortunately although I
remember the face, I can't recall the name of No7 standing. No2 seated is
Philip Bond who went on to study acting at RADA, I think, and appeared in
various roles on the London Stage and on TV in the 60's and 70's. His
daughter Samantha Bond, soon to appear in a TV drama series is a well known
actress often seen starring in TV dramas and I assume on the stage, as does
her sister perhaps to a lesser degree, and, whose name escapes me for the
moment.

Thanks to whoever posted the March picture of the month
(Watching cross-country). It was a surprise to see a picture of myself, aged
14, and friends Roger Haynes and Nigel Payne. Thanks also to Maurice Pett
for the sports photos also recently posted. (from John Smith)
The only three I recognise are, starting from the top right, Nigel Payne, me
(in the scarf), Roger Haynes. The remainder of the group are from different
years (mainly a bit younger). (from John Smith on being asked to identify
individuals)
